The brigusPHARMA Name
Where did it all start?

The brigusPHARMA name originates from a couple important places and people. Gerald Fleming, the grandfather of brigusPHARMA founder, Chris Fleming, returned to Newfoundland after serving in WW2 as a Gunner in the 166th Royal Newfoundland Artillery. He went on to become a businessman and tr ader who picked up goods from the docks in St. John's, Newfoundland. His grandfather would barter and trade in many local towns along the coast, and a common destination for business was a quaint town called, Brigus. Founded in 1612, Brigus, Newfoundland is a small rustic town with beautiful scenery and a great place to visit. Mr. Fleming's grandfather, an entrepreneur in his own right, had a reputation as a hard working honest man who conducted all his business dealings with a firm handshake of trust, and his family of 11 children had great respect and admiration for him.

Another source of inspiration was Captain Bob Bartlett from the little town of Brigus, Newfoundland. Also known to some as "Ice Man," Captain Bartlett started from humble beginnings, being the eldest of 10 siblings. He dreamed of the sea as a child and as an adult embarked on amazing and perilous expeditions. He was a true adventurer and his love of the sea combined with his passion of the artic helped to navigate and triumph over much of Canada's norther frontier.

Mr. Fleming has over 18 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry and as an entrepreneur has owned or been a partner of several organizations involving real estate, manufacturing, and transportation. Changes in the pharmaceutical industry allowed for the amalgamation of several Generic Pharmaceuticals in Canada, while also creating a need for a solution to access the market quickly and effectively. Many years of industry experience, a track record of building long-lasting relationships built on trust, combined with a growing need for market representation lead to the creation of brigusPHARMA.
With a reputation for results, brigusPHARMA has grown quickly and has extended into offering additional healthcare products and a national sales team.
Chris Fleming is a hard working father of four growing boys who went through an unexpected and very difficult battle with a deadly disease in 2008. His story inspired him to take the next step in focusing his efforts on improving access to the best health products for healthcare professionals. His experience also heightened his desire to be actively involved in the community, especially those programs which directly improve health.

Brigus Pharma is a proud Platinum Sponsor of the 2011 Hants Community Hospital Auxiliary's fifth annual “ Party with a Purpose Gala”, offering over $5000 in support, our hopes are that the fundraising target of $50000 is met. The Hospital Auxiliary is a significant part of the Hants Community Hospital, which is a cornerstone and first point of Healthcare for many in the region. The HCHA raises money to purchase equipment that keeps the hospital running smoothly. These items purchased are things that would not be covered in the Capital Health expenditures. So, we are very pleased to be a small part in making it possible to improve the quality of care, providing support for items that the hospital wouldn't have otherwise. Since the gala's inception, the auxiliary has raised enough money to purchase $150,000 worth of equipment for the local hospital.
Relay for Life - Canadian Cancer Society
The brigusPHARMA team will be joining the local community in the fight against cancer on June 3rd. Our goal is to raise awareness and funds to support cancer research to find a cure and help those affected. Join us on June 3rd to remember, celebrate, and fight back!
Tough Times and a Family Needs Help
A family in the local community has been impacted by cancer creating critically difficult times for this family and those who care for them. The brigusPHARMA team came together to raise several thousand dollars to help make a difference and a positive impact for this family. We believe in the power of a community to come together to fight and support one another.
